This is my personal & professional blog.  It's a place for me to think out loud and learn. I'll sometimes talk about things I don't understand as a way to begin to understand them. I'll often be wrong, short sighted, and unclear. When you see this happening, please point it out!

These are the rules I've arrived at to live my life!

  • Life is way shorter than you conceive.  You run out of time.  Run like hell and prioritize.
  • Attend every wedding you are invited to.
  • Get invited to as many weddings as possible.
  • Go out of your way to impact people's lives.  Tell them to read books that change you.  Tell them what you really think.
  • Photograph everything noteworthy.  If you don't photograph it, it never happened cuz you'll forget.
  • You are who your friends are.  Invest in becoming friends with great people.  It's the best path to your greatness.
  • Once you've left college, your Time Consuming to Time Producing ratio should begin to shift to Time Producing until you're at 1:1.
  • Be joyful
  • Your body is the sum of what you put in it.  Consider this when cookies are around.
  • So much of life is completely random.  That’s hard to internalize or comprehend, something in our being wants to think this isn't the case.  But it’s true!  Increase probabilities for joy by being aggressive and outgoing.
  • Give more than you take.  Especially with the people closest to you!
  • Practice as many of these as possible:
  • Support startups by being a customer of startups whenever possible, by giving them the benefit of the doubt, and by exploring/trying stuff out by startups.
  • Have strong opinions that are weakly held.  Act as if you are right.  Constantly look for evidence that you are wrong.
  • Always be constructive.
  • Don't wait for permission.  Most people do wait for a permission or a trigger to do their thing, whatever it is.  You just start, you don't need anyone's permission or money.  See
  • Be a cheerleader for your friends.  Learned this by example from Sam Lang.
